DESCRIPTION:Size Matters Exhibition \nThe Wootton Creative Alliance will be presenting another community exhibition of works titled ‘Size Matters’ at Hardwood Espresso from July – September 2023. This exhibition will focus on works that are of a set size but open to all types of mediums\, styles and concepts. \nThe exhibition will be accessible to local Wootton creatives of all ages & experiences and will correspond with the opening hours of the Hardwood Espresso at the Brush Turkey Café every Friday\, Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am – 11.30am. \nIf you are interested in participating\, please email the WCA wca@wootton.org.au for further information and to be put on the emailing list. \nOpening night 6pm on Friday the 11th August 2023\nNo RSVP required. \nDrop into Hardwood Espresso at the Brush Turkey Cafe – 1633 Wootton Way\, WOOTTON

SUMMARY:Aboriginal Art Workshop
DESCRIPTION:There will be an Aboriginal art workshop held on Sunday 2nd July to celebrate NAIDOC Week. \nThe workshop will be conducted by Chris George and held in the Wootton Hall from 9am – 2pm.\nParticipants will learn about Aboriginal art history & concepts and create their own small personal artwork on the day. \nCost is $20 per person and includes all materials and a small canvas. \nBookings are limited to 20 people (10 yrs old and above) on a first in first served basis and can be made by contacting Chris directly on 0411-036-917. \nRSVP required.

DESCRIPTION:For our Elders … \nAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders are a fundamental part of our communities. Our Elders are our wisdom keepers. They have witnessed the many changes\, so dramatically incurred in their lifetime. They are the vital bridge between the modern world and Aboriginal culture. They are the leaders of our communities. There is no time more urgent to sit down and listen to our Elders than now. \n“The Elders are the ones that hold on to the culture and the lore\, they are the most important aspect of healing our people. They have the enormous task of maintaining and passing on traditional knowledge\, values and customary practices\, while helping us find balance as we navigate between two very different worlds\,” National NAIDOC Committee Co-Chair\, Steven Satour said. “They have laid the foundations for us to be successful across multiple sectors like health\, education\, the arts\, politics and everything in between. \n“The inspiration they spark in us allows us to dream of futures that are bigger\, brighter and blacker and that’s what we are celebrating this NAIDOC Week.”
